Hi, I'm attempting to find more information on the Stretton family in Appleby. The furthest I go back is Richard Stretton b.December 28, 1738. I know hsi father was Israel Stretton. Richard married Elizabeth Wyatt in 1775, another side of the family I'd be interested to know more about.
If anyone does have any information on these names from any time around Appleby Magna, I'd be very appreciative of it. Many thanks in advance.

Writing from Minneapolis, Minnesota. My GGG grandmother was Elizabeth Wyatt born 31 Oct 1824 in Appleby Magna and died in 1902 in Broughton. Her mother was Ann Wyatt. It's possible that your Elizabeth Wyatt born in 1775 could have been "my" Elizabeth's grandmother? Thanks, Jim Carter

HI I am currently researching my family tree on genesreunited.co.uk. My grandfather was Leonard Wyatt who was born in Burton on Trent but his family trace back to Appleby Magna. The earliest ancestor I have found is Thomas Wyatt 1680 - 1714 who married Sarah and had three boys. Does this mean anything to you? Rachael rtaylor@redcmarketing.com

Very interesting to hear what you were saying RE: Appleby and Broughton Wyatts. I too trace my family back to Appleby and the Broughton link relates to Salford near Manchester where my side of the Wyatt's moved in the 19th century. Sounds like it would be interesting to exchange info regarding trees.

Hi all, Sorry for the delay in checking this, I've been out of the loop for a while now. It certainly sounds like we may well have a few links here.
Please feel free to e-mail me if anyone wants to try tracking this further.

I also have WYATT ancestry from Appleby and STRATTON (sometimes STRETTON) connections also. Derek lets see if we can tie into each other. My WYATT's ended up across the border in South Derbyshire.
The STRATTON family married my COX ancestors who in turn married the WYATT's

All I have at present is that John Wyatt married Ann and their daughter was Elizabeth Wyatt (born 20th April 1738, Appleby Magna). She married Richard Stretton (born 28th December 1738, Appleby Magna) Their Children were Israel Stretton (b.2/10/1781), Esther Stretton (11/10/1775), Robert Stretton (b. 28/4/1777) & Ann Stretton (b.2/1/1780). My line goes through Israel Stretton (b.1781) to his son Joseph (b.1823) to his daughter Rosetta Stretton (b.1848) (All born in Appleby) Rosetta married Robert Darnley from Cheshire and they moved to Birmingham where the rest of my ancestors wer born. I imagine with the size of the families in those days that there are plenty of siblings I don't yet have, but if you want to check out my family tree so far, go to www.ancestry.co.uk and find the Smitten / Page tree. Alternatively I can always e-mail/send a copy of the gedcom file. On the Stretton side I have now gone back a few more generations from my original post to Joy Stretton, born 1636 presumably still in the same area, but I can't be sure yet.
