Does anyone know who is the current owner of the Appleby Magna allotment which has a damosine (damson cross) tree in it? It's about half way down the site.
This allotment belonged to my grandfather, Arthur Sankey, before his death in 2005 and he brought the whip with him from his old house in the late 1980s. The original tree was planted by him and very mature and he couldn't bear to leave it behind so he took the whip, planted it and it's done very well.
I would very much like to take a whip to plant in my own garden from the allotment tree in order to 'keep it in the family', but have no idea who currently keeps the allotment. Can anyone help? I would be eternally grateful.
Many thanks, Catherine

Catherine -
I've forwarded your question to the local Parish Councillor who seems to be responsible for allotment matters.

Hello Catherine, I have contacted Mr Andrew Lander who has recently taken over you grandfathers old plot No 20. Andrew is happy for you to take cuttings from the tree, and as it is outside the fenced area you can go at anytime. I hope it gives you many years of pleasure.
