Hello. I’m working my way through my family history. For years I’ve thought my Jordan history was rooted in Nottingham. However, my research has lead me to Derby, to Ashby and now to Appleby. I’m picking up that there were Jordan’s in Appleby but I now want to see how solid those links are to my family. If I supply a little bit of background would someone be able to give me some pointers? Thanks in anticipation. Peter
PS I have put a similar post on an existing thread further down the page but I think it makes more sense to communicate on this new thread.

Hi Peter - welcome to The Information Portal.
I understand that your query has also been picked up by the Editor of The Parish Newsline who has already responded.
As, hopefully you have found, the Appleby Parish Registers and Censuses can be found in this section of the Information Portal. But as always several variations of the family name are quite common in these older documents, and from memory Jordan is one of the most "corrupted" names, particularly in the Parish Registers.
Happy searching, the Jordans are a well known and quite extensive family in the Appleby records.
Chris
p.s. I suspect the links you originally tried were on the Appleby History Web - unfortunately long since dormant. I moved the files to this forum to make sure they were preserved for the longer term.
Any other issues just post back and we will see what we can do.

Chris. Thank you for your response and update. I shall get on the case. I’ve had a lovely response from Pauline. I mentioned this to her but I will pop it up here. Are you, or anyone else, aware of a pub that used to be in Moira called The Colliers?

Ok, cheers - good luck with your research.
Sorry, I have only ever passed through Moira, so am unaware of any local pub names.
