I have been looking for the birth records of william Plant born apx. 1836 for quite awhile. Census searches, before 1861 drawing very little data. The 1881 census records William living in Littleworth, Blackfordby, age 44 a farm Labourer, birth place Appleby, Derbyshire. This would make his date of birth 1836/37.
William Married Catherine Wardle in 1859, at Norton, his then address given as No Man's Heath. If anyone has come accross him in any of their research I would be glad of a message.
Thank you

Samg - If you have a look at Richard Dunmore's In Focus series on the Appleby History Web there are several mentions of Plant families in the 1841 census for Appleby. Several (un-named) children are mentioned, but the dates seem to be around the ones you are interested. See - www.applebymagna.org.uk/appleby_history/in_focus.htmArticles 21 and 22 contain the references. Chris
