I'm trying to find out some history on the large house on the A444. It's name is Greenacres and has been empty for as long as I can remember. Did something happen there and been empty ever since (well thats what the kids think)? It's the one with the security camera's all over the outside and a Mannor Security sign on the gate. It's shows how long no one has been there because there's a tree grown in front of the front door! Any info will be great as i have seen the house many times and fallen in love with the location.

This house was built for old Mr and Mrs Phizacklea to retire to. They had originally lived at the Red Lion House farm, (where Mc Donalds now is.) The family still farms off the A444 on land between the old doctors house and Mc Donalds but their farm house is across the fields towards No Mans Heath.
The empty house was later sold to a female dentist and there the trial goes cold. Albert.

I managed to track the house down through land registry to a man living in Nuneaton I did contact him but he was not willing to sell it even when i offered above the market value It could be that he was related to those who built it and doesnt wish to sell it due to the memorys Could give you the mans address if you'd like get in touch

We are trying to locate the owner of 'Greenacres' on A444. Could the person who said they have the owners details please get in touch. Or if anyone else has the address or details of the owner we would bevery grateful if you could pass them on to us. Thank You!!

The dentist that has been referred to was Mrs Tanya Seal. She was married to Frank and they had a son Nicholas. We were good friends with the Seal's and we went to the house many times. I know Mrs Seal died and Mr Seal went into a home. Nicholas was at university in Bristol and I've not been in contact with him since. If it's Nick who still owns the house, I'd be very grateful if you could let me have his address as I'd like to get back in touch with him.

if you drive to the A444/M42 island, and take the measham road, on the left is a bungalow, i was told that has been empty since it was built by a wealthy man for him and his lady love to move into and she dumped him/or died before they got chance to move in, its been kept neat and tidy but empty ever since, over 40 years?
hearsay?

Steve - that bungalow is occupied and, as far as I'm aware, always has been. It's okay to speculate about the history of old houses in the village, but I think we should be careful talking about people's current homes. Marilyn

I too looked on land registry and wrote to the man who apparently owned greenacres, he wrote back to me saying that the owners would consider offers about £650 grand and he would charge a consultation fee of £150 if we were to proceceed!!!! I was a little miffed as land registry shows only him as the registered owner ever!!
We felt the price he wanted to achieve was a joke for a very run down house and he would not disclose why it had been empty for so many years......I still have his details somewhere if anyone is interested.

Vicky If he doesn't want to sell why should he quote a realistic price, or tell the history of the house to a total stranger, who he has no intention of selling to. Isn't the guy allowed his privacy ?

I don´t know anything about the house, but I used to know Nick Seal and I´d really like to get back in contact with him. If the owner is Nick...and if you are following this conversation...find me!

Any guesses as to why someone has put "11:00 a.m. 13/02/11?" as graffiti on the front wall. I'm another person who did the land registry search, but never got any further. Just spent nearly 20 years driving from Nuneaton to Burton, wondering what the story is!
