Glenda - what sort of date are we dealing with - 1900, 1600 or what? You must have some information which would give us a clue. And where did 'prebend of Lichfield and Coventry and father of Thomas' come from? Help us to help you! Richard

There is a memorial to a Rev. Mould on one of the pillars on the south nave arcade of Appleby Church. Do I not remember reading somewhere about a name change - Mould to Moore?

Glenda - Probably 3 years too late, but just in case ................... If you have a look at volume 1 of the Appleby Parish Registers - just click on this link (largish download) .... www.applebymagna.org.uk/appleby_history/images/parish_records/BMD-OCR-Volume%201.pdfThen have a look at pages 198 and 199 it explains the sequence of the Mould Rectors, and mentions the "Prebend of Lichfield". The baptism of Thomas Mould, son of William, is the first entry in the Appleby Parish Registers for the year 1572, the day and month were not legible at the time the Registers were transcribed, but from the other entries for that year is probably between March 25th and 28th. Unfortunately no record for the christening of William.
