There seems to have been some very significant (and very welcome) changes to the rollout timetable for fibre broadband in rural Leicestershire.
A new web site www.superfastleicestershire.org.uk/ has recently been launched with all the relevant details.
The entry for Measham exchange states :-
Measham, Appleby Magna, Oakthorpe, Donisthorpe, parts of Swepstone and parts of Snarestone are due to get fibre broadband from the summer of 2014.
Please check back soon.
Appleby Parva, Newtown Burgoland, parts of Measham, parts of Snarestone and parts of Donisthorpe are due to get fibre broadband from the summer of 2015.
Stretton en le Field and parts of Swepstone are targeted for completion by 2018 subject to funding.
All installations are still subject to a successful BT Openreach survey (i.e can they realistically, physically install the cables and any extra street cabinets etc. that may be required).
You can register your email address at the new website to be kept up to date with progress.
So fingers crossed should be ok – holding your breath may still be a little premature.

..........and any new houses, over the Appleby survey percentage, should be connected only on dial up.
