In researching my wife's family I have come across a Susannah Dormer who married Nicholas Silvester in Shenstone Staffs in 1712. Strikingly, of their 10 children (all baptised in Tamworth), the first was named Euseby (bap 1714), the fifth Fenwick (bap 1719), the sixth Rebeckah (bap 1720) and the ninth Dormer (bap 1726). As all these names seem to relate to the Dormers of Appleby it seems likely that my Susannah is one of them. However, I can't find a birth date for her (sometime in the early 1690s seems likely), or any other information. Can anybody help, please?

It would make sense for Susannah to be daughter of Euseby Dormer (b.1657). His mother was also Susannah and the other Christian names you have found are right for the family. I suggest that for some unknown reason her baptism was not recorded in Appleby registers. I listed the events which I had found in the registers in my article on Dormers Hall - In Focus 11- on the Appleby History site.

Thanks Richard. It was your article which gave me the first information about the family. Fascinating - a real Eureka moment!
